30 Individuals Being Rounded Up As Part of ” Operation Appalachian Action” In Wise County

Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp and the Wise County Sheriff’s Department along with members of the Southwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force announce “Operation Appalachian Action”, an ongoing, mass arrest of thirty individuals on various drug related offenses involving mostly the distribution of Methamphetamine into the heart of the Appalachian region.

Slemp says Thursday’s operation is a culmination of hours of hard work by dedicated law enforcement devoted to protecting these communities from the scourge of illegal drugs.

The charges include 35 drug related charges, and nearly 25 involve the distribution of mostly methamphetamine, synthetic drugs or highly addictive prescription drugs. Operation Appalachian Action is a 15 month joint investigation.
