Ballad Health Announces Changes to Region’s Trauma Centers
Ballad health has announced changes are coming to Trauma treatment at the regions three major medical centers. Additonally, the first pediatric trauma center will be opened at the Niswonger’s Children Hospital.
Johnson City Medical Center will remain as the region’s sole level 1 trauma center, where it will receive the most serious cases.
Holston Valley Medical Center, currently a level 1 trauma center, will become a level 3. Bristol Regional will be a level 2 trauma center.
The changes will implemented over the next 10 months. Ballad Health says it will not result in a workforce reduction.
All three centers in Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City will be closely connected, according to Ballad and a new call center will be used for coordinating in real-time.
