Several Southwest Virginia Localities Join Group Opioid Lawsuit
Several southwest Virginia counties are joining a lawsuit to continue the battle against the opioid crisis in the region. Dickenson, Washington, and Lee Counties, along with the city of Norton have joined the city of Martinsville on behalf of several other counties to consolidate the lawsuits geared at opioid manufacturers for their roles in prescribing the drugs. The lawsuit claims the crisis in Virginia has killed thousands and cost counties and cities hundreds of millions of dollars and the suit aims to recover some of those costs.
