Tennessee roadways have been deadly this year. According to data from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, there have been 1,015 fatal traffic incidents in the state as of Tuesday, an increase of 31 deaths or 3% from 2017.
Over the first half of this year, fatal accidents figures were down in all months but March, however, that trend changed beginning in June, where numbers have increased each month except July and October.
In our region alone, there have been 110 fatal crashes this year. The most have occurred in Sullivan County with 22 wrecks, and in Greene County with 18 wrecks.
