Sullivan County Parents, Students, Demand Answers At Board Meeting
A packed room of parents and students Tuesday night demanded answers about the budget reasoning behind a proposed plan by Sullivan County School Board members to close three county schools at the end of this year. Parents and students both spoke to school board members. Those parents asked board members to explain the budget behind the proposal to close Sullivan Middle, Blountville Middle, and Innovation Academy of Northeast Tennessee. Sullivan County Commissioners recently cut one point nine million dollars from the school board’s budget. Many of the parents say they will attend the next board meeting on January 14. Board members say there is not a timetable as to when a decision will be made.
