Bristol Community Members Hoping to Establish Day Center for the Homeless, Underserved
Community member of Bristol are proposing a new day center for the city’s homeless and underserved individuals.
The proposed day center named, “The Bristol Day Center,” will serve as a daytime shelter for those that are homeless, facing housing insecurity, or living in subsidized housing.
Lisa Cofer, Executive Director of the United Way of Bristol TN/VA explains what the proposed center will offer.
“It will bring together folks in our community that have experience working with our homeless population. It will give them a place to get in and out of the weather as well as give them a place where a case manager will be on staff that will work with them and assess where they are, what their needs are, and put a plan together to help them get back on their feet.”
Two public forums are planned for the proposal, with both being held at the Bristol Public Library’s J. Henry Kegley meeting room, Wednesday January 30th at 12:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M.
