Southwest Virginia Woman Scammed Out Of 40 Thousand Dollars

An elderly Scott County Virginia woman has been scammed out of 40 thousand dollars. Police say a major scam artists is targeting the elderly by claiming to represent Publisher’s Clearing House. The scam artist told the victim she was a big winner in the clearing house contest. The victim is then asked to first make a payment in order to receive the winnings. Another victim was swindled out of 15 thousand dollars after falling for the scheme.
