Man Who Shot Deputy In Face Testifies In Jonesborough Court Room
A man who shot at Carter County deputies and wounded one when he shot the deputy in the face testifies he didn’t know he had hurt anyone until after he was arrested. 39 year old Kelly Pitts says he was cleaning his rifle when his girlfriend,Brandy Hyder tried to pry the gun out of his hands. Pitts then pulled a second gun out. That’s when deputies arrived at the Carter County mobile home. During that time, deputy Jenna Markland was shot in the face by Pitts, who also wounded Hyder in the hand. Pitts fled the home and hid in cave behind his house where he passed out from drinking and was later arrested. The trial is underway in Jonesborough.
