UPDATE: Virginia State Police to investigate Weber City officer accused of using excessive force
The charges against a Weber City police officer accused of using excessive force while arresting a juvenile were not pursued by the state on Tuesday in Circuit Court after questions concerning probable cause. A spokesman for the Commonwealth’s Attorney office said evidence in the case of Nathan Alan Kennedy was obtained in an administrative investigation and is not permissible in court. Kennedy was cited in the original report for obstruction of justice and reportedly slammed the head of a juvenile suspect during his arrest last month causing the child to suffer a concussion. The Virginia State Police has agreed to conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
