Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Deputies Receive Intensive Drug Interdiction Training
The Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Department is now better trained to conduct drug searches in vehicles traveling through the 35 miles of interstate that runs through that county. Twelve deputies received four days of intensive training on drug interdiction to better understand what signs to look for in a traffic stop involving potential drugs. Sheriff Fred Newman explains.
(:09)…surprisingly a lot of people will let you search their vehicle because they think the compartments are well hidden and it will be hard to detect and a lot of people believe it or not will allow us to go ahead and search it.
Newman says the training was the first intensive training his department has received in highway drug interdiction and the program compliments his departments Aggressive Criminal Enforcement program that was implemented several years ago.
