UPDATE: Washington County chair takes exception to courthouse plan opponent
“The only interest we seem to have is about, you know, whether you’re going to move the courthouse across town to what was referred to a pig pen.”
Washington County, Virginia supervisors chairman Saul Hernandez criticizing remarks made by bar association member Emmitt Yeary on the future referendum vote that could have the county courthouse moved to the former Kmart location in the Abingdon Town Center. Voters will have an opportunity to choose on Nov. 5, but Hernandez has already made up his mind.
“So the bar may be unanimous in disagreeing with us but my constituents, 99 percent of them even the ones who came to the town hall, I know where they stand and I represent them and that’s how I’m going to vote,” said Hernandez.
