District Attorneys General Want Any Opioid Lawsuit Proceeds To Stay In Northeast Tennessee
While a settlement may be in the works with Purdue Pharma and plaintiffs in a multi billion dollar opioid litigation case, First Judicial District Attorney General Barry Staubus says another goal of the multi district litigation is keeping the money from any lawsuit agreement here in Northeast Tennessee.
(:15)…we live in our communities, we know what the drug problem s more than someone in Nashville. We know the extent of the problem since we are part of the locla community. We want to communicate with them and use that money where it can be best efficiently spent and you cant do that from three hundred miles away.
The multi district lawsuit against Purdue Pharma was filed locally by the first, second and third judicial districts in Northeast Tennessee.
