NC Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Accident Involving Assistant Football Coach at Johnson County High School

An assistant football coach at Johnson County High School has died following a single vehicle accident in North Carolina.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident occurred Monday in Watauga County, when driver Randy Smith crossed over the center line on US 421 and hit a tree. He died as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
