Sullivan County Constable who also serves as commissioner charged with perjury
An elected official in Sullivan County who is also employed as a constable turned himself into authorities after a grand jury indictment.
District 9 commissioner Doug Woods of Kingsport is charged with two counts of perjury related to his constable duties and his service in submitting paperwork. The charges are the result of a sheriff’s office investigation charged by the District Attorney’s office. Woods was issued a $3,000 bond.
This marks the second constable in the county investigated and charged with crimes. Larry Mullenix, also of Kingsport, was indicted last month on two counts of official conduct, two counts of forgery, two counts of tampering with governmental records and one count of theft, according to court records.
