Sullivan County Commissioners Looking At Short And Long Term Solutions For Overcrowding Jail

Sullivan County Commissioners heard a proposal on Thursday from Sheriff Jeff Cassidy calling for ten additional officers to monitor any jail inmates who may be selected for an early release program. The move is a short term fix to help ease a severe overcrowding condition at the county jail. Sullivan County commissioner John Gardner says the county is also looking at other facilities for ideas that may also help ease the overcrowding.
