Virginia Board Of Elections Sets New Security Standards
Beginning next year, local Virginia election administrators will be utilizing new, modern cyber security standards. Since July, southwest Virginia general registrars have been meeting with election officials to compose a list of new standards to help ensure the integrity of Virginia’s voter registration system. Some of the new measures include, setting improved standards for creating passwords, increased emphasis on using anti virus protection and developing and training on incident response plans. State election officials say the new standards will be updated on an annual basis to keep up with changing technology and emerging cyber security threats.
