Fire Officials say home is considered total loss following Thursday morning fire in Abingdon
Fire officials say a home is a total loss following a Thursday morning fire to a home in Abingdon.
According to Town of Abingdon Fire Chief John McCormick, crews were dispatched to a blaze at a home on Old Reedy Creek Road around 8:21 Thursday morning. When they arrived, everyone was already out of the residence, however, as they battled the blaze, the residence was eventually considered a total loss. The Red Cross has been called in to assist. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
Chief McCormick said his team anticipates being on the scene for several hours as they investigate as to what caused the fire.
Several crews were on scene including Washington County, Virginia Life Saving Crew, Washington County, Virginia Fire Rescue, Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office, and Abingdon Police Department.
