One person killed, two injured in fatal Wednesday night Highway 11W crash
One person has died and two people are injured following a fatal head-on crash Wednesday night in Hawkins County.
According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2005 Chevy Malibu driven by Karen Willis, 57, of Kingsport, was traveling north in the southbound lanes on Highway 11W without headlights on according to a witness, when it collided with a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by Billy Denton, 30. Following the collision, the Chevy traveled into the median while the Jeep rolled over onto the shoulder on the southbound side of the road.
Willis was killed in the crash while her passenger was injured. Denton was also injured in the accident. The crash caused traffic to be diverted off Highway 11W onto nearby roadways for close to two hours per a social media post from Church Hill Police. The crash remains under investigation.
