AP Story: Northam planning to ban all weapons from Capitol Square ahead of gun rights rally

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is planning to ban all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a planned rally next week over gun rights.

According to the Associated Press, two state officials were briefed of the plans, but have not been authorized to speak publicly of those plans. One of those officials stated Northam is slated to announce the plans at a press conference this afternoon due to credible threats of potential violence and extremism.

These plans come shortly after Democratic leaders voted in favor of banning guns inside the State Capitol building.
