One killed in weekend crash in Johnson City

One person has died following a weekend crash in Johnson City.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, they were called to a two vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. Preliminary findings say a 2018 Chevy Camaro was traveling north along the Bristol Highway near the intersection of Green Valley Drive when the vehicle ventured into the southbound lane and was struck by a 2005 Cadillac Escalade in the passenger side.

The passenger of the Camaro, Whitney Martin, 23, of Jonesborough, was killed in the accident. The driver of the Camaro was uninjured, while the driver of the Escalade was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening.

The crash remains under investigation by the Johnson City Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team.
