Northam: Executive order allows certain establishments to sell mixed beverages for take out and delivery, defers ABC license and permit fee payments until June
VA Governor Ralph Northam is taking additional action to help restaurants and distilleries during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
An Executive order issued by Northam earlier this week directs the Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Authority to allow establishments that have mixed beverage licenses to be able to sell mixed beverages by takeout or delivery. It also defers annual permit and license fees through June for businesses with licenses expiring between March and June.
Northam says this deferral will allow thousands of licensed establishments across the state to reopen and conduct business more quickly following the end of the pandemic, while allowing those with certain liquor licenses to potentially gain a an extra source of income to try and make up for any lost revenue related to the temporary halt of dining in across the state.
