Volunteer High in Hawkins County to host free pop-up drive-thru COVID-19 test site on Saturday
Governor Bill Lee is calling it an aggressive move to gauge how COVID-19 is operating statewide.
Those levels will be gathered at 33 pop-up coronavirus test sites across Tennessee this weekend including a remote unit at Volunteer High School in Church Hill on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Another drive-thru site will be operating at East Tennessee State University on Sunday at 1276 Gilbreath Drive in Johnson City from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nurses from the Department of Health and medics with the Tennessee National Guard will be manning the drive-thru stations to administer the tests which are available at no cost to residents.
Heath and emergency management groups will be implementing a new rapid testing apparatus that will give them more data as Governor Lee proposes to reopen the state’s economy next month.
