NEW: Town of Abingdon announces retirement of Police Chief Tony Sullivan

A statement was released late Friday afternoon by the town of Abingdon announcing the retirement of Chief of Police Tony Sullivan.

The letter from Town Manager James Morani said Sullivan’s retirement was effective as of Friday at 5 p.m.

Lt. Jon Holbrook, a 16-year-veteran of the force, has been appointed as interim chief, Morani noted.
