GPD: Investigation underway after body located in vacated vehicle Sunday morning

Greeneville Police have launched an investigation after locating a body in a vehicle early Sunday morning.

Police say they located a vehicle parked along the roadway in the 600 block of East Andrew Johnson Highway yesterday around 7 a.m. Officers found a broken window on the driver’s side and a person in the front passenger side of the car deceased. The body has been taken to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at ETSU for an autopsy.

The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation.
