UPDATE: Clintwood man sent to prison for life for 2018 Saltville murder

A Dickenson County resident will spend the rest of his life in a Virginia prison for killing a Saltville man in 2018.

Roger Tackett, 46, of Clintwood, received the sentence Wednesday in Circuit Court after pleading guilty to murder in February, according to court records. He was arrested a day after prosecutors said he killed Douglas Ferguson in an argument over drugs and a woman.

Tackett was the subject of a manhunt following the shooting and was finally captured in Bristol.
