NASCAR, BMS announces format for July 15th All-Star race
NASCAR and Bristol Motor Speedway has its format for the first-ever All-Star race at the World’s Fastest Half Mile.
The format includes the ‘choose rule’ allowing drivers the ability to pick which lane to line up in for restarts. Drivers must commit to either the outside or inside lane whenever they reach a designated spot on the track, different from traditional restarts where the lane is chosen based on the order they come off of pit road. The event is also scheduled to have four stages, and the three stage NASCAR Open will take place prior to the running of the All-Star race.
Stage 1- 55 laps
Stage 2- 35 laps
Stage 3- 35 laps
Stage 4- 15 laps
*NOTE- Green and Yellow flag laps will count in Stages 1-3, and green flags will only count in Stage 4.
The event is scheduled for July 15th, with coverage of the race beginning at 6 p.m. on FS1. The NASCAR Open is scheduled to start around 7 p.m., and the All-Star race is set to begin at 8:30 p.m.
