Protest In Support Of Abingdon Police Department Scheduled For Saturday

Since the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis Police Officer protests against police departments have been popping up all around the country. On Saturday, a group of protesters in support of law enforcement will gather at the Abingdon County Courthouse to show their support for local law enforcement. Dr. Mark Matney is the protest organizer. Matney says the group is concerned about the Virginia Legislature’s discussions on defunding police departments in the Commonwealth. The march begins at two pm Saturday at the county courthouse and will proceed past the Abingdon Police Department. The protest is sponsored by Freedom Loving Americans.
