Johnson County Schools release 2020-21 school reopening plans
School reopening plans have been announced for students and teachers who attend Johnson County Schools.
Officials announced Friday that schools will either operate in-person or virtually when classes return to session August 4th.
The full reopening, which will be in effect with flat or declining COVID-19 case trends in the county, will see all schools go into session beginning at 7:45 a.m. Students will be screened daily, with questions asked like if they have had a temperature of 99.9 or more within the last two days and if a student has been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days. Masks will be optional for students and required for teachers while working with students in close proximity. For families who prefer to wait to return to in-person learning because of the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the school system is offering a full-time, online option. Below is a list of daily screening questions:
Have you been diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19?
Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case in the past 14 days?
Have you had a fever of 99.9 degrees or higher in the last 48 hours?
Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
Are you experiencing chills, unexplained muscle aches, headaches, or fatigue?
Have you had a new loss of appetite or loss of taste or smell?
Have you had nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
Under a forced closed plan, all classes will be virtual and students will be responsible for participating in daily assignments and activities.
