UPDATE: Cluster of COVID-19 cases at Bristol long-term care facility spike
COVID-19 cases continue to grow at a Bristol, Tennessee long-term care facility while the center mourns the loss of two patients due to the virus.
The Christian Care Center of Bristol issued a statement Friday announcing the deaths of two former residents while announcing 22 patients have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The facility has placed 19 of those residents in isolation while two people have been hospitalized. Six workers at Christian Care have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Here is the complete statement issued by the facility:
“As you are aware, Covid-19 is quickly ramping up in our community and nation. We have prayed to be spared of this terrible virus getting into our facility. In spite of all our efforts, we are facing Covid-19 with staff and residents.
Christian Care Center of Bristol currently has twenty-two residents testing positive for COVID-19. Nineteen residents are currently in isolation and two residents are currently being hospitalized. Christian Care Center of Bristol had two former residents with Covid-19 pass away in an area hospital. With deeply saddened hearts, our prayers go out to the residents and their families. Six staff members have tested positive for Covid-19. So far, other staff and resident test results have been negative. The facility will continue to test staff and residents.
Under the guidance of the facility’s Medical Director, Dr. Vivian Clark, Christian Care Center of Bristol, a CMS 5-Star rated, and Joint Commission accredited facility is working closely with the Sullivan County Department of Health and is following strict Joint Commission, Department of Health, and CDC precautions and guidelines.
We remain vigilant against this wicked virus afflicting our nation and local community. We deeply covet your prayers and support as we all face this terrible virus and worldwide pandemic.”
