VSP: One person dead in tractor-trailer accident early Sunday in Wythe County

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal tractor-trailer accident that occurred on Interstate 81 early Sunday in Wythe County.

State Police say a tractor-trailer was traveling north on I-81 around mile marker 63 just after 1:00 a.m Sunday morning, when it ran off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail and bridge, then turned over and caught fire.

The vehicle was destroyed by the fire and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
