Bristol Virginia Public Schools Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19
A Bristol Virginia Public Schools employee has tested positive for COVID-19. According to a letter from Superintendent Dr. Keith Perrgian, the employee is assigned to Virginia High School and spent time in the building for a short period on July 9th. Perrigan says the contacts the employee had with other employees were not considered “close” or “high risk”. Those employees have been notified of their potential exposure. As a result of using face coverings and social distancing, those employees will not need to quarantine, but should self monitor for 14 days. The school followed procedures for cleaning as a result of the positive test. The cleaning is in addition to newly enhanced standard operating procedures for cleaning. Perrigan says if the metrics for the systems current reopening plans change, for better or worse, the system will adjust those plans accordingly with collaboration from the Mount Rogers Health District.
