Johnson City School Board delays start of classes by one week, mask mandate now in effect throughout system
Johnson City Schools have pushed their opening day back a week and will now require the wearing of face coverings for all students and staff on campus.
During the district’s school board meeting last night, members unanimously approved delaying the start date of the new academic year from August 4th to August 10th that will also coincide with the start of the year for students participating in remote learning.
Johnson City Schools Supervisor of Safety Greg Wallace says four masks will be distributed to students per day for at least two months but students are allowed to bring their own.
