Southwest Virginia Tourism Agencies Receive Funding Support From State
Two Southwest Virginia tourism agencies have each received ten thousand dollars to promote their local tourism industry. The Abingdon Convention and Visitors Bureau and Scott County Tourism each received the funds from the Virginia Tourism Corporation as part of the Virginia Destination Marketing Organization program. Abingdon will utilize the money to support and promote Abingdon as an ideal road trip destination. Scott County Tourism plans to promote itinerary destination travel in and around Scott County. The two tourism agencies generated a total of more than 128 million dollars in tourism related business during 2018.
