Spiking COVID cases leaves Morristown schools closed until Sept. 8
Hamblen County Director of Schools Jeff Perry said the growing COVID crisis in the locality left little choice but to push back the opening of their schools until Sept. 8.
Perry noted that a significant number of school employees have been directly exposed to someone in their family dealing with the virus and the necessary time in quarantine eliminated a July 31st opening day.
Current statistics from the Department of Health show Hamblen County among the top localities in the state where COVID cases have sharply increased over the past 30 days.
