NEW: Elizabethon/Carter County Public Library closing immediately amid possible COVID-19 exposure

The Elizabethon/Carter County Public Library is closing immediately until at least August 4th due to COVID-19 concerns.

A press release from the library says the decision comes after employees reportedly came into close contact with someone that tested positive for COVID-19. The library says they are working with state public health officials to ensure all proper measures are being taken.

The library also says deadlines for books will be extended and fines will not be charged. Any events that were scheduled are being moved to a later date.
