UPDATE: VHSL executives vote to begin fall sports in March

The Virginia High School League’s Executive Committee voted to have fall sports moved to the spring in a condensed format of competitions with practice beginning February 15.

That means you will have a Friday, March 5 kickoff for high school football, according to the VHSL plan released earlier this month. Winter sports such as basketball will begin practice Dec. 14 with games beginning Dec. 28.

Spring sports like baseball and softball will maintain their annual schedules starting in April.
