Discovery of wrecked truck in Russell County reveals fatality

A preliminary investigation by the Virginia State Police shows a victim had been dead for several days before their wrecked vehicle was discovered over the weekend in Russell County.

The crashed pickup truck was found 180 feet down an embankment located off of Route 63 in Dante on Saturday just after 10 p.m.

The report said the body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for identification.
