New Grants To Train Future Teachers At No Cost To Them
The State of Tennessee is offering future teachers free teacher training with the help of two million dollars in grants. The 20 grants of one hundred thousand dollars each will help to form or expand programs that prepare new teachers at no cost to them. The state Department of Education says the two million dollars in Grow Your Own grants fund partnerships between educator preparation providers and school districts. The organizations arrange a paid education assistant, a teacher mentor, and a paid multi year residency for bachelor degree programs or one year residency for advanced level programs. The money is part of the federal coronavirus Stimulus package.
