Alexander, Hicks claim GOP Primary wins over incumbents Van Huss and Hill
Preliminary returns from the Tennessee primary elections show two House lawmakers will likely not return to Nashville for another term.
6th House District Incumbent Micah Van Huss, who has held office since 2013, was defeated by construction company owner Tim Hicks in his first attempt at public office.
Hicks will oppose Democrat Brad Batt in November.
Another political newcomer who will be on the ballot this fall is Washington County business co-owner Rebecca Alexander who defeated current 7th House District Rep. Matthew Hill who has represented his area since 2005.
Former talk show host Scotty Campbell won the GOP nomination for the TN House 2nd District race defeating Neal Kerney with 72 percent of the vote.
