Mountain Electric Cooperative resuming power disconnection for nonpayment
A power company that serves portions of Northeast Tennessee and North Carolina are resuming disconnections due to nonpayment.
Mountain Electric Cooperative announced on social media they have resumed the disconnection policy, but they are offering a six month COVID-19 payment arrangement plan, which is available upon request by customers.

Any accrued residential energy bills that are due as of Aug. 1 will be eligible for the six month payment plan. Mountain Electric will also reopen their Mountain City lobby with limited entry and normal business hours starting Monday Aug. 17. COVID-19 precautions will be in place and face coverings are requested.
