Holston River Regional Drug Task Force Investigation Leads To 28 Indictments

An investigation by members of the Holston River Regional Drug Task Force results in the indictment of 28 individuals on 79 different offenses related to the distribution of drugs into southwest Virginia. The task force, composed of members of the Lebanon Police Department, Russell County Sheriff’s Department , Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Department and the Virginia State Police joined forces in 2019 when local law enforcement officials determined a need in Russell and Washington Counties to support the fight against a methamphetamine epidemic. Since the inception of the task force in 2019, 42 individuals have been indicted for the distribution of controlled substances with a total of 120 different transgressions in Russell County.
