Fatal crashes trending up in Virginia as state’s deadliest month on roadways approaches
Recent data compiled by the Virginia State Police shows fatal crashes in the Commonwealth are already ahead of 2019’s figure of 531.
The sobering statistic comes with more information reported by the agency Monday that showed October was the deadliest month for wrecks on the road.
The report said October is traditionally the most dangerous month for drivers on Virginia’s highways. In 2019 during those 31 days, there were 12,568 traffic crashes, 6,036 injuries, and 86 fatalities.
The warning was attached to a message on social media that included a picture of a speeding ticket a trooper had just delivered to a driver who was clocked at 122 miles per hour on the interstate.
