Virginia Unveils COVID-19 Vaccination Distribution Plan
When a COVID-19 vaccination is finally approved for use , it appears Virginia residents of long term care facilities will be among the first in line at distribution time. Virginia recently unveiled its plan for distributing COVID-19 vaccines once one is approved. Residents in those facilities make up nearly 50 percent of the Commonwealth’s total COVID-19 deaths. Others expected to be at the head of the line include health care workers, first responders, teachers and child care workers. It’s still uncertain how many doses will initially be available and the federal government will determine how much of the vaccine is distributed in the state. Virginia is planning a phased approach under the assumption only limited amounts will be available when first released.
