Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has authorized $73 million in federal virus relief funding to be allocated to home health care workers in the state.
The governor’s office reported that an estimated 43,500 medical employees will receive a one-time pre-tax hazard paycheck of $1,500 for those who served Medicaid patients between March 12 and June 30.
Northam said in a statement that these health care workers are often unseen, unsung, and underpaid but they need an incentive for putting themselves in harm’s way during the pandemic.
