UPDATE: Three people in custody in connection to Unicoi kidnapping of two children

A third person is now in custody in connection to Wednesday night’s AMBER Alert in Erwin, Tennessee and the subsequent arrest of the children’s non-custodial parents.

Shawn Hinkley is charged with reporting false information to law enforcement concerning the missing children, according to Erwin Police Chief Regan Tilson.

Koraleigh Simon, 5, and, Kayson Jones, 6, are now in the care of state child protective services following the TBI’s alert activation. The father, Jason Simon, 38, and mother, Trista Jones, are charged with kidnapping.

Tilson stated Wednesday that the couple likely had assistance when they took the children.
