Governor Lee, education commissioner want students, teachers held harmless for 2020-2021 results due to pandemic
Student and educator assessments will go on as planned for the 2020-2021 school year in Tennessee but Governor Bill Lee is calling for the removal of any negative consequences for both groups.
Lee and Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn said in a joint statement that the pandemic’s impact on classroom time and other facets of learning could bring about burdens that need realistic goals given the circumstances.
Schwinn noted she will work with lawmakers on plans for teachers to let them know they are supported while continuing to help students in this period.
