Armed Robbery Suspect Shot Twice, By Store Clerk’s Husband…Suspect In Serious Condition
An attempted robbery suspect who fired one shot inside a Johnson City business and then fled the scene is shot twice by a store clerk’s husband when the same suspect points a gun at the two in a second armed robbery attempt. 35 year old Dequan Lamar Rushing of Ellenwood Georgia was arrested after attempting to rob the Scotchman on E Unaka Avenue. The clerk’s husband, who has a valid handgun carry permit, intervened and shot Rushing twice in self defense. Rushing, who attempted to rob the Tri City Wholesale Tobacco store earlier in the morning, ran from the scene but was apprehended by a police canine. Rushing was transported to a local hospital and is listed in serious condition. He’s charged with aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery as well as several other transgressions including unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
