Norton man killed in sports car crash on Route 23 in Scott County

A Southwest Virginia man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Scott County.

Thomas W. McGraw, 71, of Norton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck that took place just before 4 pm on Route 23.

A preliminary crash report from the Virginia State Police said McGraw was operating a sports car and traveling north when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail coming into a curve.

The report said McGraw then overcorrected causing the car to go into the median and overturn.
