A Ballad Health official says Tennessee’s rate of COVID-19 cases and of deaths is among the worst in the nation, and the region Ballad serves is the worst of the worst. Jamie Swift, Ballad health’s Chief Infection Officer made the comments to the Roanoke Times and says pictures of makeshift hospitals in other areas could absolutely happen in this region. The comments come on the heels of Ballad’s latest figures showing a new record of 224 patients in its facilities. 59 more patients have died in the 21 county service area Ballad reaches and the health care provider is reporting only 38 designated COVID-19 beds available across their system.
