Coeburn Police Chief: Officer in department battling COVID-19

Coeburn, VA Police Chief Scott Brooks is requesting prayers from the community as one of his officers in the department battles COVID-19.

Brooks posted to social media earlier this week that Sgt. Jake Elkins was diagnosed with the virus and is being treated in the ICU. An update from Brooks Wednesday says Elkins’s condition has improved as he remains hospitalized.

The department continues to ask for thoughts and prayers during Elkins’s recovery process.
